Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra under the button of JoAnn Falletta with pianist Conrad Tao. The greatest classical music pieces on the 100th Leonard Bernstein’s and the 120th George Gershwin’s birthday.

From 21 to 23 March 2018, Ludwig van Beethoven Easter Festival will be held at the Centre for the Meeting of Cultures in Lublin. During the Lublin edition of the Festival, we will hear three world class groups that will present the transversal repertoire of the classical music. On March 22, the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Maestra JoAnn Falletta will perform the greatest classical music pieces.

After the rise and fall of several forerunners, the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra was founded in 1935. During the Great Depression, the orchestra was initially supported by funds from the Works Progress Administration and the Emergency Relief Bureau. Over the decades, the orchestra has matured in stature under outstanding conductors including William Steinberg, Josef Krips, Lukas Foss, Michael Tilson Thomas, Julius Rudel, Semyon Bychkov, and Maximiano Valdes. Many distinguished guest performers have graced the orchestra’s stage, including Sergei Rachmaninoff, Isaac Stern, Aaron Copland, Van Cliburn, and Yo-Yo Ma. The BPO has toured widely across the United States, Europe and Canada.

During the tenure of JoAnn Falletta, the BPO has rekindled its distinguished history of radio broadcasts and recordings, including the release of 40 CDs of a highly diverse repertoire on the Naxos and Beau Fleuve labels, which have garnered notice from the international press, won two GRAMMY awards, and are broadcast on radio stations worldwide. The BPO has engaged in a multi-year commissioning project, and is dedicated to presenting the music of today, as well as uncovering lost composers from the past. For this, the orchestra has earned multiple ASCAP Awards for Adventurous Programming.

Since 1940, the orchestra’s permanent home has been Kleinhans Music Hall, a National Historic Landmark designed by Eliel and Eero Saarinen with an international reputation as one of the finest concert halls in the United States.

Conrad Tao - Pianist

He has appeared worldwide as a pianist and composer, performing to universal acclaim from critics and audiences alike. His accolades and awards include being a Presidential Scholar in the Arts, a YoungArts gold medal-winner in music, a Gilmore Young Artist, and an Avery Fisher Career Grant-winner.

JoAnn Falletta is internationally celebrated as a vibrant ambassador for music, an inspiring artistic leader, and a champion of American symphonic music. She serves as the Music Director of the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra and the Virginia Symphony Orchestra and Principal Guest Conductor of the Brevard Music Center. Maestro Falletta has guest conducted over a hundred orchestras in North America, and many of the most prominent orchestras in Europe, Asia, South America and Africa.
